how safe is the bus system?

i really want to volunteer at the santa monica animal shelter but that would require me taking the bus down there every sat or sunday at like 9amish and coming back probably between 1 and 3 pm, 5 pm at the latest. there would be some walking involved as well. i hadn’t thought about it until my mom pointed out that traveling by bus isn’t always the safest, any insight?

Don’t worry about it, you’re not traveling after dark.

Sometimes men standing over you will stare down your shirt, but that’s the worst I’ve ever run into.

haha well seeing as how i’m flat chested i don’t see that being a problem.

The only thing you have to worry about it standing alone at a bus stop after dark.

Also, keep in mind that some buses don’t run on Sundays, so you might have different schedules for Saturday and Sunday.

What are you volunteering for? Just for fun or for hours? Have you already applied to be a volunteer there? Inquiring minds want to know!

is it the big blue bus? i love that bus. a very nice bus, drivers are helpful, and only 25 cents for us!
i haven’t ridden the other buses much… aside from clubbing trips ;)

anyway, where in santa monica are you trying to go? namaste… where are you… he can tell you more about it!

lol i sent them a request for info but i was going to call them because i hate waiting for people to respond to online stuff since it takes forever. it’s on “1640-9th Street, Santa Monica, CA 90404. To reach the shelter, you’ll need to approach driving westbound on Olympic Boulevard. Turn right when you get to 9th Street and we’re at the end of a dead-end block.” this is totally just for fun, not for hours. i used to volunteer as a dog socializer at the shelter near my house and i really miss working with animals.

haha clubbing trips. i’m pretty sure the big blue bus goes that way. i think…

If it’s the Blue, lemme come with you? Can you keep me posted on this sorta thing? Like, how to volunteer and stuff? :D

for sure, here’s their site. [Police Department - Animal Control and Shelter - City of Santa Monica](http://www.santamonicapd.org/AnimalShelter/Shelter.htm) i’m probably going to give them a call next weekend though. i keep putting it off. i should just call now they’re open for another 15 mins

i lied, it’s after hours now lol. but anywho, the message basically said to go in and fill in the application in person so i guess that’s what i will be doing next sunday since i’m busy w-sat

That sounds really cool! I’d love to come along and volunteer :D

the southside of santa monica, where your place is, can be sketchy at night (as in past 9 pm), but since you’re going during daylight hours it should be fine.

big blue bus is also the safest, cleanest, and most efficient bus in the LA region. i wouldnt worry.

LOL OP I RAN INTO YOU :D

liyana outed you after you left.

i ride the blue bus a lot. if you aren’t scared by the occasional creeper, you’ll be fine.

side note, tonight i was on the bus and my friends and i found a bunch of empty alcohol bottles in the back of the bus, partayyyyy

I hate hte homeless people who sit down next to you when the bus is empty and try to chat you up. It seems to occur mostly in Venice.

Dude, it’s because you have boobs!

Anyway, once, on the Metro 92, some black lady started shouting at some Hispanic ladies, and they started arguing and the Hispanic ladies called her names in Spanish, and the bus driver actually pulled over and stopped the bus.

So yeah, beware the little old ladies, too.
