when andover releases, as skieurope just said. they have control over the threads that are locked.
To my knowledge, no school has “control” of anything here. However it is an Admin’s choice of when to unlock the threads in question.
@PreppyHenry: Your experience of getting admitted to one but not another similarly selective school is a theme that you see repeated over the years…which is one factor that makes people refer to the process as a “lottery”. I honestly don’t think that any schools “horse trade” with regard to BS admissions. Each school is simply trying to build the best class they can out of the applicants they get.

@victoria777, yes, I found the email with the username & password. My DD was waitlisted 
However, she was accepted to another of her “top choices” (PEA), so she has a wonderful option in addition to her Public School.

@Napper, I think you meant to be helpful in noting that Andover is the pacing variable here; as soon as they release their decision, @skieurope has stated that he will choose to unlock the threads. The confusion is the term “control.” While, as you point out, Andover unwittingly has control over the timing of the unlocking of the threads by virtue of being the monitored variable; they do not actively control the threads.
It speaks to independence of College Confidential, and to issues of power & control of Super Moderators.

NMH sent out emails with portal a while ago. That’s where you check status of application, complete, missing things, etc. The title of email was “N… M… H… : Confirm your email” sent in December.
A week ago they sent " N… M… H… : Your Account Reminder"
It was sent to PARENT’s emails.
