How Schools Notify Applicants

Never mind - I was able to read the rejection letter…

Anyone hear from Webb yet?

Groton’s decision is up on the portal.

How can one check Milton’s decision? Thanks.

Hi, Do anyone hear from Concord Academy?

@Trekko10 We got the email rejection from Concord at 12:00AM M10 this morning.

Put your results on the decision spreadsheet!!! http://■■■■■■■.com/ccprepschooldecisions2015

Does anyone know when the acceptance packages come for Choate?

Yeah, I’ve been waiting on an acceptance package from Deerfield @hopefulprep01‌ - they seem to be coming late this year for some reason.

@ilovewaterpolo‌ Yeah, I think they send them through a Memphis hub, and the weather down here hasn’t been great the past couple of days-maybe some delays came from that?

Oh okay! Thanks @hopefulprep01‌! I hope your Choate package comes soon!

Are the Exeter packages late? I haven’t gotten mine yet.

We just got the Exeter package today. Personalized letter of acceptance – really nice touch. You should read the whole thing. Other than that, it just has the course catalog that is available online anyway. No stickers not banners. But the letter was truly exceptional and spoke to some of the things they liked about your application.

It’s so good to know what they like about our application  Congrats @heartburner‌

I loved the personalized letter!

Eton contacts your son’s current Head via email. Ominously titled “Eton Assessment Results”, the letter explains the meaning of the graded results, which are:

Conditional Place - A
Waiting List Place - B
File Kept Open - C1
Place not offered - C

It then states your son’s grade and a very brief description of what he did to earn it. The following day, one receives an email from Eton directly that (in my son’s case) had three PDF attachments: a personalized letter offering a Conditional Place, a list of housemasters with thumbnail bios, and a brief overview of what is involved with the Common Entrance exam.

For whatever it is worth, I went to the website of a couple of the BS we have looked at that are oft-mentioned here. Some of the less common ones do not have any info about the method or time of communication at all. Only Groton specified the time of day, for all others the time you see below is based on CC posts. Generally, it looks like you need to be ready to login to the school’s website to find out – only Exeter emails applicants.

Choate ; Per website, Login to Portal “Admission decisions will be available online.” (3pm EST according to CC)

Exeter: Per website, decisions “emailed to applicants”. (6:30am EST according to CC)

Groton : Per website, “Access your admission decision on March 10 at 5:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time” at
http://www.groton.org/Page/Admission/Applicant-Message-Center
Applicant user IDs and passwords will be sent via email on February 28th.

Hotchkiss: Per website, Admission decisions available online, (7am EST according to CC)

Lawrenceville: Login to Portal, (9am EST according to CC)

St. Andrews: Per website “decisions are mailed on March 10”

FYI, Groton has sent out an email saying :
On March 10, the decision from Groton will be made available to you on line at 6 p.m. eastern standard time. (NOT 5pm)

They also mentioned that Groton offers two revisits: The evening of March 30/day of March 31 and the evening of April 4/ day of April 5.

I laughed out loud when I read that update letter from Groton because it also suggested that people not check their emails until 6 PM on March 10th because “what’s the rush?”

IKR! They moved it back an hour. I think they really meant … Kids, 90pct of you will be rejected so you may want parental support.
