Exeter now says they will email you at a given address (the one they sent this notification email to) no later than 8am EST March 10.
Is it just me or is that a slightly odd email?
I found that email very oddly composed. One quick look it seemed as if they were congratulating for acceptance. Why congratulate for submitting an application 40 days later? And why excite the applicants when 90% of them are going to be rejected?
SculptorDad: my husband and I both read it several times and we agree. Further, why go from 6:30 to 8am? Just weird.
Didn’t they have a problem with their system last year on M10? I seem to remember one school had an issue…
could be a (awkward) way to test their email list. Any that come back need to be corrected or replaced
Yes, it was Exeter last year that had a major glitch in their system. It lit up the forum (and, I imagine, the switchboard at the school) shortly ahead of the date that decisions were to be released. Caused a lot of confusion and angst for the anxious kids awaiting results.
Hotchkiss has had issues with their system as well. After submitting an app there (before deadline) , we received some mixed messages via email. Got one email that said “Your application is now complete, and we can’t wait to read it…” – it was sent a day or two before M10… admit decisions had certainly been made already! Very strange.
“By agreement with our peer schools in the Ten Schools Admissions Organization we will not discuss any specifics of these decisions until March 15th and we ask that if you have questions, you hold them until that time.”
Can someone elaborate on what they think this might mean from today’s email from Exeter? Are they referring to financial aid?
IDK, sounds almost like a cooling off period.
As far as the “congratulatory” note of Exeter’s email, I will have to go back and look for the specifics, but I found a lot of the Gladchemms communications to have that sort of tone. It’s hard to describe it but it’s almost like a come-on.
I think they mean if you were rejected or wait listed then wait until March 15 to contact them to find out why.

Perhaps they are hinting us that we aren’t admitted but shouldn’t bother them for a few days after we find it out on march 10th… LOL
Does anybody know if Cate mails their decisions on March 10 or they arrive on March 10 and by which service?
Also, what time do Thacher emails come?

A couple of years ago when we applied, Cate emailed quite early in the morning.

No, we are domestic. But this was two years ago, so maybe things have changed.
Thacher has emailed applicants, stating that they will start emailing results on M10 (4 PM PST).
Hotchkiss’ email says it’s now 630 not 7 am, L’ville sent an email saying 9am (as noted before)
Cate states on the school website that decisions will be emailed on Thursday March 10 at 12:01am PST. Hardcopy letters will be delivered on the same day. FYI.
In a way, I’m glad all the notifications aren’t released at the same time - it will be scary to see all the results at once. if the 6am result isn’t good, we can hope for few more hours until the next one is released and so on and so forth … I wish DS had applied to more schools than just the ones he did (sigh); good lesson learned for college applications …
