How screwed am I?

I will be attending UCLA this fall. I did lots of activities in HS but didn’t have a job. I volunteered, played a sport, clubs, but no job. How screwed am I when it comes to work study/internships. Im a social sciences major (probably political science) btw.

Thanks!!

I had my first job when I was 18 and I have not run into any trouble because of it, and I am also in poli sci. I didn’t even do volunteer work, sports, or clubs, for that matter. :stuck_out_tongue: And volunteer work counts for something.

Your life is over. You may as well drop out of college now, go on welfare, and maybe push drugs. It’s all you, as a lazy, jobless adolescent will ever be good for.

Im actually not lazy haha. I had a job (sorta) but it doesn’t count. My older brother got seriously ill and I had to help with his care. My mom also has problems that I don’t want to go into that I had to deal with. Employers probably won’t care though :(

^I thought you’d be able to see the sarcasm. Sorry if you didn’t. Seriously, don’t worry about something small like that. If you do things, like volunteer, work on campus, TA, research, join clubs, organize crap, etc. etc., employers won’t care that you’ve yet to hold a job. And really, the economy is bad right now, meaning jobs aren’t easy to come by for our age group, but it shouldn’t be such a big deal upon graduation. Chillax and enjoy your first year.

Im 21 and my only job experience is a few summers at Target…which is basically meaningless and a huge waste of time. Don’t worry.

I got the sarcasm…but I just wanted to clarify that Im not lazy. :)

I do not have formal employment either; don’t worry about it.

everyone has to start at some point with formal employment. don’t worry about it, just show your best in interviews and keep up a good performance in college.

You are not so screwed up yet. More is waiting for you in near future. Keep your mind stable for this.
