These are currently my top choices, and I know they’re a bit of stretch. Just looking for some info from others to see if I have a chance.

white female, massachusetts
3.5 GPA (all honors, 3 APs)
630 reading, 620 writing, 580 math
2 subject tests: 650 Lit, 600 German
a lot of ECs, volunteer work and foreign travel
what I think to be a solid essay

This might be a dumb question, thanks for your time

But, there are many other great LACs that are less selective that would be great matches and safeties. What is it about Kenyon, Macalester and Pitzer that make them your top choices (…they are quite different from each other in many ways…but, what about them interests you?) Maybe then we could recommend other colleges that have some similar characterisitics that you are looking for.

Pitzer’s not a reach, they have a very holistic app process. They care about essay and teacher recs a lot. It would be more of a match. Definitely not a safety, of course, but it’s definitely within the realm of possibility for you!

Lumine is right - Pitzer definitely looks at the big picture, not just test scores (which are optional if you have at least an unweighted gpa of 3.5 or top 10%). That said, their number of applicants is steadily increasing resulting in an acceptance rate of 22% this past spring.

That’s true, more and more people are discovering Pitzer, which means the acceptance rate is going down. But OP has the right stuff to be considered.

Macalester is definetely a huge reach. I’m not an admissions counselor, I don’t claim to know things that others don’t, but I do know that a friend of mine applied last year (we’re in state). He was a full IB diploma student, 33 ACT, 2230 SAT, ~4.2 weighted GPA, 3 5’s and a 6 on IB tests and he was rejected. Just some perspective, maybe his essay was bad or his rec’s were bad, I have no idea, thats all the info I have
