I’m looking into the PPE major and I saw on the LSA website that you have to apply for admission. It also says admission itself is selective but doesn’t say what they’re looking for besides GPA/short essay… Does anyone know just how hard it is to get accepted into the major and how many people apply/get accepted?
It is a relatively new program, like the Ross minor, so it is difficult to gauge how selective it will be from year to year. At the same time, the university will be throwing more resources at those programs as they develop and flesh them out, and will therefore be meeting the influx of applicants with additional places. That being said, the PPE program should not be that selective. The students I have seen get into that program had 3.3+ GPAs their freshman year at Michigan. What matters more is a demonstrated understanding of, and interest in, the program, and the ability to effectively articulate them.
