How should I prepare for NCSU Calc 141?

I am a bit worried about starting Calculus I (141) at NC State this Fall. I will be taking the class as a high school senior. I barely passed the math placement test (I actually scored 10 pts. lower than the minimum, but admissions still allowed me to take the class), and I want to know what I should do to be successful in the class. Granted, I didn’t study at all for the test, and I could have easily done a little better. I took precalculus last year. My memory of trig, long division of polynomials, etc. is spotty. What resources/study habits would you recommend for study? I need to review trig identities, synthetic division, etc. Will the teacher review precal at all in the class, or will they dive right into calc?

I’m not sure exactly what I’m looking for in an answer, but just sharing your experiences would be helpful. Thanks!!

For math in general, they way I started to study for math classes is repetition. When I’m doing homework, I’ll do one problem and then do that same problem over again to make sure I know the correct steps to that certain problem. This comes in handy for advanced problems with various manipulation. Also, to help you with pre-calculus, on YouTube there’s this great math channel called PatrickJMT. His explanations are wonderful.

Based on from what I’ve heard, college professors will most likely dive right in with the derivatives and the limit process. I think they’ll expect you to know the “behind the scenes math.”

Thanks, Vesperia! I’ve never tried repetition before. I’ll also check out the youtube channel. Any more insight/advice, anyone?
