How should i prepare for the SAT and ACT.

Hi,
I just came from India to the US a year ago. I am concerned about the SAT/ACT. I have been taking regular english at my school and i have been performing well in the class but i think it is just because the teacher is not serious. I am really worried as i am a junior right now and i don’t know the correct procedure taht would help me prepare for these tests. Your help will be greatly appreciated. THANKS A TON. I would also like to know about the top pre medical major programs available here in the US. Thanks again.

My first advice to you is to create a target score. I would take the ACT and SAT each 2 times. If you have time, try 3. Have you considered any of the SAT II’s? What are your strongest subjects?

You probably want to invest in a few prep books for each. Take practice tests and make SURE you follow the guidelines for testing. Don’t take breaks if they’re not allowed, etc. You want to be as prepared for the real test as you can possibly be. Another option would be to take a prep class.

@dhiren‌ it took me over 20 practice tests to raise my score 500 points

I suggest taking the 10 practice tests from the CollegeBoard official blue SAT review book, then alternate practice tests from Kaplans, Princeton Review, and Barrons (Barrons is the hardest).

Focus A LOT on the math section, cause that is probably going to be where you score the highest points (seriously it probably is).

For the essay in the writing section, ALWAYS use 3 body paragraphs to support your position – I usually try to use a historical example, a literary example, and either a personal example or a current issue example (something in the news).

This is just what I did for about 3 months and my score went from a 1500 to a 2060 (I know, 2060 is still low for College Confidential standards but im happy I even got over 2000 haha)

Good luck bro!
