I have a TV that isn’t smart enough to use a Roku or Apple TV, but we will soon be in the market for one that can.
However, I don’t really want to live in 1984.

I expect the capabilities could be expanded to enable advertisers to target viewers by their choice of key phrases, much like Google allows advertisers to target Gmail users.

Right. I didn’t say it was bad, as long as you realize it’s there. I think it could be handy to have advertising geared for your Netflix tastes, as opposed to watching ads for Cialis and chairs that don’t require you to stand on your own.

Of course, random soda pop ads while you are watching home videos would be maddening.
