I think a lot of the acceptances are already out there. I think they do wait to send the denials until the end, and of course there are also the late acceptances. But no, they are not trying to be like the schools that release all the results at one time. Every school does what they think works best for them to balance class quality, class size, etc.

If we have yet to receive any kind of admissions decision, should we just assume the new won’t be positive?

No, there will still be positive news for some. People are receiving acceptances every day. I know it is hard, but as someone once said, it ain’t over 'til it’s over.

@Cheer007 I hope not!
@fallenchemist I applied pretty close to the RD application deadline. I just got tons of emails from them and decided to give it a shot…I found out I really liked the school! Could that be an explanation as to why I don’t have been notified of a decision yet?

And will we most likely hear on a Friday (like other schools) or is it any random day of the school week?

I am curious about the admission and scholarship notification processes at Tulane. My oldest was notified by letter that he had been deferred to regular decision. Since that correspondence, we have heard nothing from Tulane. We have contacted our admission counselor on occasion, giving updates and such, and I finally called a few weeks ago to make sure nothing was amiss in our file. I was told admission decisions would be mailed by April 1. For Dean’s and Paul Tulane scholarship notifications, emails would be sent to candidates who were not selected, and letters mailed to those who were. Within a day or so, we logged online and found he had been admitted with a partial tuition merit scholarship. Tulane has not sent us any official notifications, though. Is this normal? Most of the other schools he applied to have been in contact with him…some fairly regularly. Every school does things differently, but this process seems strikingly unusual.

jaccrazzi - Yes, it is possible that since you applied so close to the deadline your application is being reviewed at the end as well. There is no particular day they notify more than others, I don’t think.

Sonofasailor - I am a bit confused as to the timeline, but it sounds like maybe your phone call to the admissions counselor prompted the file review and decision, or maybe it was just a minor coincidence. I say minor because we are getting close to the deadline anyway. In any case, the way Tulane has always done it is to post the decision on the Gibson account and also send a paper letter via snail mail. They do not send an email telling you what the decision is or even to look at your Gibson account. If they just posted the decision on Gibson in the last day or two, the letter is no doubt on its way.

I assume you found out about the scholarship by looking at the financial aid tab?

Cheer007: My son has been waiting from the EA too! There was somewhat of a mix up with him during EA and we were told to hang in there for RD. His still reads “deferred to RD”. This whole process for Tulane is very frustrating to say the least. Many people who had applied under RD have heard back already (with scholarships), and yet there are still the hopeful few from EA deferral with similar stats out there! I really don’t get it…Good luck to you! Hopefully the wait will be over soon! :)

@Fallenchemist: thanks for your input. We’ll check again for additional scholarship postings (haven’t checked it in a couple weeks, because of what the counselor verbally told me). Only the partial tuition notification was there previously. Many friends who have connections to Tulane (students who either currently attend or have attended) have been…surprised…at how the process has run its course, because they know my son and his credentials. This is part of the reason I keep wondering if there is some issue with his packet that is a problem. Letters of recommendation? His essay? Even at a prestigious school such as Tulane, the remainder of his c.v. should place him near the top of all applicants by virtually any objective measure. This has been a longer and more arduous process than we imagined…not particularly looking forward to doing it again next year with our second! A bit more contact from the school…even just a form letter or email blast would be nice.

Gibson is currently undergoing maintenance. This does not help my Tulane anxiety.

Sonofsailor - I don’t think there will be any merit scholarship postings, but of course if you have applied for need based aid that could still be coming. As far as the process, it seems that many schools, Tulane included, have been making adjustments to their criteria for admission, or at least to what gets emphasis. So while past experiences are helpful, they don’t necessarily apply to what is happening this year. The admissions process is mostly known, but there is an element of mystery at any school except the ones that guarantee admission based on some statistical criteria. Some schools promise admission for certain combinations of test scores and grades, some if you rank in the top X% of your class, some if you are a NMF. But most privates like Tulane that have small to medium incoming classes are usually changing things a bit from year to year to stay competitive with peer schools and to get the kinds of classes they feel are academically best and best fit the culture of the school. It creates a lot of anxiety, for sure, but not just at Tulane.

@Cheer007 Mine is, too! Do you think they would post decisions this late at night?

jacrazzi - it has happened in the past. Weekends too.

@fallenchemist Ok I don’t know who you are, but thank you so much for answering all of my questions and being so informative. I really appreciate it!

And why am I not hearing anything from Tulane??? I’m getting really anxious and impatient haha. Ahh!

is anybody else’s Gibson status blank??

Mine’s blank too @markis7

But it is my experience that this means absolutely nothing.

Mine is blank right now as well.

Mine is blank as well! It has never been this way before.

Annnnd now it’s back to complete and awaiting review. Ugh

back to pending :(

Mine is blank too!! What does this mean?
