Perro’s post is yet another classic example of annoying CC PC-ness… why can’t posters post replicates of their original posts on various sections to maximize results? jesus. Besides, if people are replying to these posts with actual evaluations then obviously people do care and have advice to offer, regardless of how self-evident the answers to the posts seem.

First off, there was no posting on “various sections” unless you consider “The Cornell Board” and “The Cornell Board” as constituting a great variety. Second of all, I don’t think that the inability to tolerate ignorance is “CC PC-ness”, whatever that is supposed to mean. When a ■■■■■ posts a worthless thread that consists of nothing more than self-centered gloating about his own achievements, how are people supposed to respond with “actual evaluations”? It’s not like you can evaluate the kid’s chances; he didnt even provide SAT scores or GPA.

I see why Doctorx might be so touchy about the subject of “posters post[ing] replicates of their original posts on various sections to maximize results”. Maybe it’s because he has a nasty little habit of starting the same thread over and over again in different forums. I’m sure you managed to put plenty of people to sleep with your triple-repost on the “Frederick Douglass Award”. Really, do you think three different boards really want to know about “CC PC-ness” or your “Lazy Friends”? And man, doc, that must have been one hell of a “Math Dilemma”, because apparently the viewers of not one, not two, but TEN (10) different forums needed to hear about it! So I’m sorry if me laying the law down on confidential inadvertantly hit you in a soft spot, it really wasn’t intended. How could it be, since I’ve never heard of you before. And that’s not for lack of attention on my part. Maybe it’s because your total number of posts that you’ve made on the Cornell boards is less than the number of threads you’ve started about your “Math Dilemma”.

Finally, how can you refer to anything as “classic” when you’ve only been around here for 2 months and have made a whopping 63 posts? I’ve been doing this since 2003, son (the date it displays by my name comes from when they transferred the accounts over to the new site), so I think I should have a good idea of what is “classic”. And, while bashing ■■■■■■ for wasting our time with pointless, self-centered threads is a classic CC activity, this “CC PC-ness” that you cooked up and summarily started three threads about is not. So why don’t you go back to arguing your convoluted politcal views with all the bored-at-work middle-aged burnouts over in the “parents cafe” where you belong?

Actually, I had a different post-name on the old board that began in I believe november of 2003 (I remember because that was when my school handed back PSAT scores). So, um, I don’t think you can say I’m no seasoned veteran, but whether you believe that or not is up to you and I really don’t care less - just defending myself when things aren’t clear. Also, number of posts is no way to measure how long someone has been here - some may choose not to comment on every thread they find remotely interesting, and instead observe what goes on and read threads they find particularly useful. Others may just have little to say or ask.
Anyways, as I’ve said before, if people are willing to respond to these posts, then obviously not EVERYONE is annoyed at these threads of “self-congratulation.” Besides, how much time is actually wasted when you click on a thread, find that it’s pointless, and click the “back” button on your browser? I’m guessing around 30 seconds, probably a lot less if you skim posts. If you have such a hard time with these kinds of posters, just ignore them. I don’t think responding to them with biting criticism is going to deter the vast amount of CC posters from posting stats evals.
Anyways, I find it kind of disturbing that you’ve tracked my post record with such enthusiasm. Obviously, CC has turned into a hobby for you rather than a board for information. And that, my friend, is quite sad. And while I realize posting my “math dilemma” or “frederick douglass” thread is annoying, the fact is I don’t care. The more people that respond, the more information I get. It’s that simple.
As for my political views, they aren’t convoluted. There are many people like myself who have a rather strong distaste for social conservatism as a political ideology and view it as a waste of media coverage, taxpayer money, and political capital. What people do in their social lives and in their private lives should be totally separate from the State, and it should be left at that. Quite frankly, there are a number of more pressing issues to contemplate, from nuclear proliferation to global warming to central american trade.

I’d like to present a short tutorial on how to “track [one’s] post record with such enthusiasm” as that which I demonstrated earlier. Here goes: First, click on the person’s name. Second, click on “Find more posts by [user’s name]”. Third, read what comes up. Simple, huh?

It’s interesting that a “seasoned veteran”, who obviously knows CC like the back of his hand, wouldn’t know how to view a user’s post history. Or is it just that he is so self-centered that he assumes that I have been stalking him rather than having taken the few aforementioned steps? (FYI, in this case, it was the latter. I wanted to know why a person I had never seen or heard of before was coming into a forum he never posts in and trying to pick a fight with me. Reading your past posts made your motives pretty clear)

Also, I find it funny that you, of all people, accuse someone of using CC as “a hobby…rather than a board for information”. After all, you are the one who is using College Confidential as a soapbox for your strange political theories, social commentaries, and personal anecdotes. And that, my friend, is quite sad.

Well, most of my posts have been on chances and information on various awards, as you have noted. My thread on christian fundamentalism was a reaction to a thread I found very aggravating and I had to get my voice out. Anyways, think what you want. You haven’t convinced me that people who criticize stats evals posters are ridiculously big tools, or that there does indeed exist some CC PC-ness, as other posters have agreed with me on.

If you read a few posts above:
“Sorry I went through a frenzy mode on CC about my chances at college/activities list. Strike this post as another waste of time. Sorry guys.”
