So I got into UCSB for pre-business and also UCI for business admin and I was wondering how strong SB’s business program is compared to that of UCI.

Any information would be helpful, thanks.

not good at all.

^Don’t listen to omhl. S/he keeps posting bad stuff about UCSB without any basis. I personally know nothing about their business program, though. Sorry =/

Comparing UCI’s Business major to Business Economics at UCSB is comparing mangoes to pineapples.

Even though Merage is a relatively new business school at UCI, due to demand, Business is an impacted major at UCI. The class entering 09 will be just the second freshman batch (and the last freshman) to get in as declared business majors. From 2010, freshman will be unable to choose business as major – only pre-business. They will have to apply at the end of winter of sophomore year to get into business major just like Haas at Berkeley.

Approx. 100-150 students will get into business major as freshman in 2009.

Remember, before UCI launched its program, those wishing to study Business at the undergraduate level had only UCB, UCR and USC as clear choices.

At UCSB, however, there is no Business School and no business major. Only Business Economics is offered. (A combination of Economics and Accounting). See:
