<p>Oh by the way my GPA is a 3.8 UW and 4.1 weighted.
Ive taken as many AP classes as i could and this year, im taking two HL IB classes.
Ranked top 6%.</p>
<p>Your rank is low and scores just average for ivies. Alabama will help, so some lower ivies are worth a shot.</p>
<p>You’d have a good shot at the next group but forget Berkeley, you won’t get the aid you seem to need.</p>

<p>Oh, just noticed you listed SATs in unusual order. Bring up CR, even for Vandy and Cal.</p>
<p>Are you a National Merit Candidate? If so , this certainly will give you several more financial options.</p>
<p>Your GPA is very good though not top shelf.</p>
<p>Your Math/Science SAT are outstanding, but with a substantial falloff in the CR – with the excellent writing score the CR seems a bit out of place. Are you are taking the SAT again? If so and can concentrate on getting the CR up even 50 points which I think your profile moves from impressive to outstanding – maybe 1500+ is just one of those psychological barriers. </p>
<p>EC are good with obvious a strong and broad concentration on Music.
A couple years of competitve sports, but it looks like you stopped – was there a reason like injury or you had to work or just change in interest?

<p>You mention engineering schools and I see a couple Chem E – is that what you are looking for or are you aiming differently (Biomed, an eye toward Med School, or a different concentration). </p>
<p>Is Georgia Tech on your list – it wasn’t listed, but it’s one of the top programs in the country in almost all concentrations.</p>
<p>Alabama, Auburn I think are pretty much locks and both should be able to give you a large merit award.</p>
<p>Out of State schools like UT and Florida I think you could almost certainly be accepted for admission, but I’m not sure about the financial aid. California Publics are pretty notorious for NO financial aid for out of state students. You’d probably get a bit better FA package from Vandy which I’d say you have an average chance of admission. I would add Michigan to the list, but their aid in Engineering is significantly less than for Arts and Sciences (it might be worth investigating at least).</p>
<p>If you could bump your SAT CR (don’t think you can do a lot with the GPA at this stage), then the Ivy’s become much more in reach. Being from Alabama might give you a bit of a push. Cornell likely is the strongest in the engineering areas and can often supply a good amount of financial help based on need – same would apply more at MIT, Princeton, Stanford but I think those are probably a pretty major reach.</p>

I think your ECs are very strong.</p>
<p>Your EC’s are good, but (each) Ivy admission committee has their own way of thinking so it’s hard to predict “How good” and even the same candidate will be evaluated quite differently at each university. If you have a specific school in mind (MIT, Cornell, ??) you may want to visit that particular School site here on CC and ask some of the current students there for an opinion.</p>
