How strong of an EC is academic decathlon?

<p>Do I need medals for it to be impressive? How many do I need? Around how much would it help?</p>

<p>The question about impressive ECs comes up regularly. There is a thread with comments by NSM, a Ivy alum interviewer, about what constitutes impressive ECs. <p>No extracurricular is useless, granted you actually enjoy it. It’s useless you ask how many awards you need and on what level. If we give you a number, say two, then are you only going to aim for two medals? Just do the best you can.</p>

<p>And Northstarmom actually does mention Academic Decathlon in her list of notable ECs. It can be impressive if you excel at the state level.</p>
