Hello, i am mid bachelors degree and am going to be getting my masters. I live in florida however wish to attend a graduate school in new york, where i’d like to work. Are loans able to cover the cost of out of state graduate tuition (plus dorms) or does this cost typically exceed the loan limit? If it does exceed it, how does one go to an out of state graduate program? thank you.
As a grad student, you can complete the FAFSA form. This will make you eligible to get a grad plus loan which can be up to the cost of attendance.
BUT…you probably want to think twice before you take out loans in that amount.
What is your reason for wanting to attend grad school in NY? And where in NY?
You could move to that state and work for a year to establish residency, then apply to grad school. You need to research the rules for the state you are looking at (and the possibility exists that you won’t get in).
I’d suggest you finish grad school in an affordable manner and then move to NYC if you like. You don’t want to start off your life saddled with huge loans.
What field of study for your masters? That can affect where you should study, and whether you need to pay for it yourself.
