How to apply for a job

<p>I was looking at the student employment site and am interested in applying for a few positions. The thing is, I’m not sure how to do so. Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question, but what exactly should I put in the first email? Do I vaguely ask for more info in hope that they will send me a application to make things easier? Or do I type up a letter describing my skills/interests? Do I send a resume? Or do I forget the email and call instead?</p>

<p>I’ve never had a job before, so all this is new to me. Please help and offer advice!</p>

<p>At the risk of enabling my competition :), email them with a brief cover letter describing the job you want and why you want it, with your resume (in brief or full) attached. Provide contact info, cross your fingers, and wait.</p>
