Hey guys, I’m asking a question for a friend. I hope someone can answer it.
The question is:

How do you apply for an audition to Tisch Drama?

I checked the website, or I could be in the wrong webpage because it contains information about the 2007 fall entrance… I also called many times and they never respond back when my friend leaves a voicemail. We also emailed the person in charge as well.

Also, what are the audition dates in NY?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for taking your time to read.

Just found out the spots are filled up. What are other possibilities that I can do right now to guarantee a spot?

Any specific person I should call and if possible, please provide the number.

Thanks again.

The audition dates are throughout the month of February, many many days. The Regular Decision audition dates (which are all in Feb.) opened up for reservations on Nov. 1. I cannot imagine being able to get an audition at this late date. I venture to say they filled up during November. Did this friend apply already to Tisch? Applications to NYU were due on Jan. 1. It is IMPOSSIBLE to audition if an application hasn’t been filed. An audition can be lined up BEFORE an application is filed at NYU (for example, you can line up your audition as early as Nov. 1 for a Feb. audition, which is when all Regular Decision audiitons take place, but not have filed your application until Jan. 1). However, you cannot be ADMITTED to NYU/Tisch without an application being filed at NYU by Jan. 1. So, if your friend hasn’t applied yet, an audition would be worthless as one cannot be admitted without an application on file by Jan. 1. Your friend can call the main number for Tisch but the auditions are full but I suppose this person can ask what happens if there are cancellations and ask if there is a waitlist for auditions. However, the call is meaningless unless an application went into NYU for entrance into Tisch by Jan. 1. Anyone who had applied to NYU/Tisch would have known to line up their artistic review as it is on the application materials.

If your friend is a transfer student, they might be in luck. Transfer applications aren’t due until April 1. If they are applying as a freshman, hopefully they’ve submitted their application by now.

As far as the auditions are concerned, soozievt pretty much laid it out BUT when I auditioned yesterday they did accept a couple walk-ins. So if auditions in your area haven’t happened yet, your friend might try just showing up. Hey, it couldn’t hurt.

Good luck!
