<p>one of the supplemental short essays for of of my top-choice colleges goes along the lines of “tell us why respect and understanding is helpful in a college enviornment.” i am stumped on what to say. i don’t want to be a bland “we need to respect other people’s ideas and they can have great things to say if we just listen,” but i don’t know what else i can say! the only thing i can think of is to talk about a class i took last year where those values were stressed.
any ideas?</p>
<p>i’d approach it by giving an anecdote (the class you mentioned in your case) that portrays the value or effect of respect/understanding and then parallel the necessity of those characteristics in a college environment</p>
