My Lab instructor announced today that we have to pick a lab partner for a project that will last the rest of the semester. It is pretty much the last thing going in the grade book aside from the practicums and the final. Long story short I have one of the highest if not the highest grade in lab and when my teacher announced the project i saw a lot of the slacker students in class look and stare at me. I got a few text tonight about who I am planning to choose for a lab partner. To be frank I am sick of doing all the work but I don’t know how to turn someone down I just feel bad. So how do I get out of this we choose tomorrow :/

You don’t. You deal with it as you see fit just like millions of hard working students have done before you. That’s just how things are done, even if you and I and everyone else who has been stuck with all the work in the past hates the idea of being mooched off. If you are lucky there will be some kind of peer evaluation form at the end.

Pick the one you want to personally work closely with for the rest of the course, be that a slacker or a hard worker or someone average. You can’t pick them all any more than you can choose to work alone, so there is no reason to feel guilty about not picking someone, and if someone holds it against you they are a lame friend. Just be advised that it can be equally frustrating to work with someone who is also very hard working and disagrees with your way of doing things.
