How to be happy

I recommend the book “This Moment Is the Perfect Teacher: Ten Buddhist Teachings on Cultivating Inner Strength and Compassion”, by Pema Chodron, for help with staying in the moment and not constantly judging every event as it occurs in one’s life. I made a point of listening to the tapes before my parents’ difficult visit at Thanksgiving and it helped me to not be pulled into their negativity (at least for the first couple of days). She has written a string of books and now I am thinking I should order another for myself for Christmas.
1moremom-- You might also consider taking one of her classes if you can get to Naropa. Her presence, like all really great spiritual teachers, is pretty amazing.

Also a big fan of Tal Ben-Shahur…He gives very practical advice, very doable tasks, to find your way to enjoying your life, again. I would read him.

Victor Frankl is also very interesting on this subject.

Happy holidays everyone!

poetgirl, That would really be a lovely gift to myself! S2 visited CU and I was selfishly wishing he would go there so we could spend more time in Boulder. I will look at Victor Frankl thanks.
