nobody i know seems to have any idea. is there a specific protocol you are supposed to follow if you want to become a TA for a class you’ve completed and done well in (A+ level i assume is required)? thanks for any info.

Depends on the department. Usually it’s A/A+ although I have heard of a few A-'s allowed to TA. Go to the departmental office and ask if they take undergrad TA’s. You usually just fill out a form like you’re applying for a job at Barnes and Nobel.

I know Chem, Physics, and Math (for the help room) will take ugrad TA’s. I think every other TA i’ve ever had was a grad student.

Some econ classes also have undergrad TA’s. But yeah, either go to the departmental office, or if for some reason you can’t locate the departmental office, you can always ask the professor teaching the course about TA-ing.

In psychology we have undergraduate TAs, but only if we don’t have enough graduate students and post-baccalaureate students that TA for classes. I think last year we had between 2 and 4 undergraduate TAs.

There’s a departmental coordinator for teaching and learning – in psychology it’s Lois Putnam. You can easily go to them and ask for information about being an undergraduate TA. If you don’t know who it is, the departmental website should list them, and the administrative assistant for your department will definitely know.
