How to BEST show math proficiency?

Hello, everyone! As most of you know, June SAT scores were released today. I took the Math 2 subject test, among others. After reading my scores, I began researching percentiles, etc., but one question coalesced and has since left me dumbfounded:
How does one best show proficiency in mathematics?
Although an 800 on SAT II Math 2 is lovely, this promises roughly 85th percentile (according to the internet, of course). An 800 on SAT II Math 1 would indicate a 98th percentile ("), despite covering fewer/less intricate topics. Which would colleges like to see better for potential mathematics majors? Or mayhaps a 36 ACT Math? Or an 800 SAT I Math?
Do, please, let me know your thoughts on the relations between top tier scores on the four main different mathematics standardized tests, save AP, that are readily available. Thanks!

Do a search for the AMC-10 and AMC-12 exams and see if they are offered anywhere near you.
If you do well on those and qualify for the AIME exams, that shows a lot.
