How to Bump a Thread...

I feel stupid asking this, but how do you bump a thread to the top of thread-listings?

abcdefghijklmnop

i did it…

Good morning cb0610,

Please note that CC discourages bumping in general, but especially when you use messages such as “bumping up”, or other irrelevant content to resurrect your thread. In the context of a college-level discussion, it’s the equivalent of raising one’s hand in class and saying, “ooh, ooh!” to get the teacher or other students to notice you more.

Instead, we recommend you add a sentence with genuine new content to your own thread. It will bump the thread up just as well, without irritating others or causing you to look slightly rude. It is more likely to have the desired impact, especially if the new content is authentic, sincere and interesting.

As well, consider how much time is reasonable to elapse between posts on your thread. This is personal judgment, obviously, but 15 minutes or an hour is just not enough on a busy website such as this with many threads at once. Instead, use that time to read other similar threads, participate in community, and learn from others. Check back on your thread after 24 hours and then feel free to post a follow-up question or some other relevant content to move your thread up. Threads that continue to receive no replies are likely not in the proper forum and could benefit from being moved.

Thank you for being a part of our online community!
