How to bump scores

My new years resolution is to achieve roughly 2300 SAT score and my score now is around 2000.

So I was wondering how to bump a 650 writing score to a 800? I finished reading the barrons writing workbook. So my score is now around 680ish. Any really good tips that helped YOU bump it to a 800?

Also, I did really bad on my critical reading’s passages. Like I constantly get about half wrong. I understood some of the answers Collegeboard chooses. But most of them I eliminate 3 of them and the last two, I usually pick the wrong answer.

thanks

p.s. Good luck on the jan 2012 SAT! (:

p.p.s HAVE AN AMAZING 2012! <3

I’m going for the same score! Except my weakness is math… To improve writing and critical reading, all I have been doing is practicing with official practice tests in the CB book. I find their passages to be fairly challenging and so they are good prep for the real deal in January. Some questions may seem harder than others, but the answers are always SOMEWHERE in the passage. Before I choose an answer, I always make sure I can find evidence in the passage to back it up. As for the sentence completions, BUY DIRECT HITS. It’s the best $15 I ever spent. seriously.

good luck! <3

Haha thanks. And well if you need help with math, definitely contact me because it’s really the only subject that I know.

And good luck to you too :D

Having a good essay (10-12) will really help bump up your writing score. The thread “How to Write a 12 Essay in 10 Days” is pretty helpful to, so you might want to search for that thread.

For the critical reading, I think just going through the blue book and practicing is one of the only ways to bump up your score.
