I’m trying to transfer into GATech but don’t know what overall GPA they would see. Currently I have a 3.6, due to two C grades. One for Comp1, and the other is for “Intro to Mechatronics Engr” (MTRE 1000). Took both of these due to it being my first semester in college, and I should have never taken the Mechatronics course. Comp1 is a requisite to transfer, but the Mechatronics course is not. I checked the GATech transfer equivalency website, and it doesn’t even offer credit for the course as they do not have a Mechatronics credit to give. Does this mean that while my gpa for my current school is 3.6, the C for this course would not be included in the GPA GATech would see? I understand it would still show up under my transcript. Do courses I’ve taken, that GATech does not recognize or credit, result in not being included in my “transfer” competitive GPA?
Assume that GATech will look at everything you submit. Therefore, since you’re submitting your transcript which (obviously) has your cumulative GPA w/ MTRE 1000 included, they’ll most likely look at that. Perhaps they recalculate, perhaps they don’t. That portion of the admissions process is unclear.
You could attempt calling GATech, and ask for a transfer admissions officer. If worse comes to worst, they’ll politely tell you to go away :))
