How to calculate your practice test score?

Hey,

I just took the big blue book practice test 2, though only the writing section timed without the essay. So basically just Section 7 and Section 10.

How do I calculate my actual score so I can tell if I improved from my last scores?

My raw score was 40 (42 - 1.25). So according to the score table I have a scaled score of 64-74. If I assume I get a 5 on the essay, then I would have 650-780.

Now… that’s a BIG gap, nearly 100 points. So how can I really tell what my score is? And if I am improving?

Note, I am primarily trying to compare it to my PSAT writing score of 65. So have I improved (in one week of studying) or have I done worse? And if so, by how much?

Your best bet is to average the high and the low. But since your lower bound is 650 and you scored 65 on the PSATs, you def. improved your writing skills. However, also realize that the psats had no essay so the improvement may not be as significant
