If you’re autistic, then you probably have an IEP (Individualized Education Program) at your school. Talk with your teachers and see what the IEP has in terms of your transition plan. There may be certain supports they recommend for college and/or that are available to you at low or no cost because of your IEP. Additionally, they may have additional insight on the local colleges and which might be a particularly good fit for you.

This is something I wrote about Grand Valley State which might be something you want to investigate.

Grand Valley State (MI): This is a larger school that may provide sufficient supports. Within the Student Accessibility Resources center students can sign-up for 45-minute one-on-one learning skills sessions. GVSU also has success coaching which works on a lot of EF skills. And it appears that the university is really trying to make those services accessible, as they’ve purchased a new program to make it easier for students to make and track their appointments with various services across the university.

With reaching out to profs, do u recommend doing that now? Like to express interest?

I’d hold off until you’re enrolled in their classes.
