Hi there, I am now a second year in UVa (yup that’s how they call a sophomore there) and I have been accepted into one of the externship offered by the student development center of Brown University’s graduate school (which was host by some UVa alum at Brown). This winter break for me is pretty chill so I decided to take this externship to learn more about educational management. The problem is, however, I am majoring in Computer Engineering and Astronomy (so totally unrelated to the field this externship explores), and therefore I basically have no idea what educational management is, nor how to effectively participate in a program about it.
The career center at my school did a terrific job in introducing us to our hosts and the programs, and the consultants there also suggested that I should probably spend more time in doing a industrial research since I do not have relevant experiences.
What’s the best way of conducting such an industrial research? Is there any particular helpful resources about educational management that I can refer to as to prepare for the upcoming externship?
Any info is greatly appreciated. Happy new year every one!
