<p>I’ve looked into this a little, and everything I’ve read indicates that you have to make the boot disk before you install Lion on your computer. It looks like those of us who bought new computers with Lion pre-installed are out of luck in this regard. You can buy Lion on a thumb drive for about $60, but it looks like you can boot a Lion computer from a special boot partition in order to re-install the operating system. If you re-boot while holding down Ctrl-R, you can access this partition.</p>
