How to deal with a boring campus?

I go to a small-ish private school that turns into a ghost town on the weekends. The campus food services either close completely or have weird hours, as does the bookstore. My school doesn’t offer student transportation or plan events for the weekends.
My problem is that I get very bored and lonely on the weekends and actually look forward to classes starting back on Monday. I go to school in central Florida, so most people have Disney passes and go to the parks on the weekend, go home, or go to the beach. I’ve made friends, and a few with cars, but they are all either too busy on the weekends to hang out or are going to Disney, which I can’t afford. I also live out-of-state and don’t have a car, so visiting family or even going off campus aren’t options. I’m lucky if I can get a ride to church on Sunday and leave the campus for a few hours. Is anyone in a similar situation with their school? How do you entertain yourself on weekends? There’s only so much Netflix to watch and homework to do.

Get a job? somewhere that offers Disney passes?

I was also going to recommend looking for a part-time weekend job. Maybe at a local coffee shop or somewhere you can socialize with other students a bit. If you need money and have time that seems to be make sense.

Yeah, I have a TA job on campus, but obviously I can’t do that on weekends. I would look for employment elsewhere except I don’t have a car and Uber is expensive in my area!

You could always pick out books on weekdays! Also, it might be a good time to just organize and clean your dorm. You could call family and far away friends, or you could play a game. You could also start drawing, painting, creating origami, and etc. Another idea would be to practice hair, makeup, and nails! For a job, there are lots of websites where you could sign up for tutoring students!

I feel you. I have been bored at my university since my freshman year THREE years ago.

Surely not ALL of your friends are at Disney on weekends right? Most of my friends go home on weekends but there is always someone to hang out with if I try to talk to people. Try to plan something out with your friends during the week. That’ll give you something to look forward to!

Getting a job is a good idea. Some places may let you just work weekends. Try something fun too like a movie theater or even Disney so the time passes by fast.

For food, maybe buy your own stuff. If you have a stove or at least a microwave, you have lots of options. My school’s cafeteria blows on the weekend too :frowning:
