Hello CC
I am a Californian resident who lives in National City California and the school district which I am enrolling is facing massive budget cuts. Because the cuts are everywhere I need some advice on how to unleash my potential in this situation. I’m afraid that due to cuts I won’t be able to take AP or IB course that I’ll want to take. I’m afraid that my beloved extracurricular will be slashed and my great teachers will be laid off while more unfavorable ones stay. I just want some on how to deal in this crisis as a student and wondering if going to a Catholic school in Chula(20-40 mins away) wonder help shield me from this problem.

P.S I wanted to go to Preuss which didn’t seem affected but it was too late(they dont let 9th graders apply) does anyone know a good alternative to Preuss in my area.

BOOO FREAKING HOOO kid. My district had a 3mil deficit and we got through it.

I don’t know any good alternative but my school has never had all that good funding. If you want a club you fundrais on your own, selling chocolates for Good Sams, after school things, also you don’t really need a lot. We had 4 working spot lights in drama and we made that s*** work. Just take whatever’s the most advanced your school can offer and deal with it.

Take community college classes or self-study APs

Have non-school-related ECs (local classes, etc.)

Remember that other CA schools are going through the same thing, and that Stanford is in CA so they probably know about the cuts…colleges always look at students with the students’ school in context, so just take what you can and deal with what you can’t.
