How to Deal with Disappointment

I don’t know why it is so, but I am continuously disappointed with my SAT Subject Test scores, no matter how much I study. I have taken three, and am not happy with any of my scores. These subject tests are what is going to hold me back :(

My weighted GPA is pretty good, and generally upward trending, with the exception of sophomore year, but my guidance couselor said it’s nothing to worry about, since the drop in GPA wasn’t too large, and I added more honors classes that year.

Freshman: 4.2
Sophomore: 4.0
Junior: 4.4

SAT I: 2220
Critical Reading: 700
Math: 720
Writing: 800

My extracurriculars are pretty good. I am involved in a lot inside and outside of school. I have leadership positions, qualified for nationals, and finalled at state. I also volunteer and will have a job this summer.

Here comes the bad part…

SAT Chemistry: 640
SAT Math I: 690 (I don’t know what happened…math is my best subject)
SAT US History: 630

Please help me. What should I do? I am taking the ACT in September. Should I take more subject tests? Should I retake any? Should I just let my scores be?

Thank you.

That is tough but on da bright side you only have to worry about those subject tests. For math 1 the curve is harsh cause -1 is 790 so dont be too dissapointed. What I suggest is review again or try taking math 2 cause it has a leniant curve, -6 still 800. For history, there is not much you can do except study using a review book again.

^yeah, I agree; I think you should try math II. The curve is more lenient, and it’s likely that you’ve covered the material for math II in school more recently than the material for math I. Other than that, your SAT I score looks really good, so don’t worry too much. And if you’re taking the ACT to try to get out of taking subject tests, be careful; some colleges still require SAT II’s, even if you’re submitting an ACT score. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice! I think I will try Math II in October and hope for the best.
