Hi,

I’m a little confused about travel/trip insurance. When does it make sense to buy it and do you buy it to cover the airfare or the entire trip. It seems like there are so many clauses with the inexpensive options that it isn’t worth it. On the other hand good coverage is really costly which makes me second guess it.

What happens if they miss a connecting flight - does the airline put them on the next available flight (assuming they missed it by no fault of their own). If that’s the case why would insurance help?

Our two kids (22 and 19) will be traveling from NY to Paris, London to Ireland then one comes home and the other goes to Rome and then London for 8 weeks. Lots of planes, trains and buses involved. I have no idea how to insure this trip or even if it makes sense to.

Any thoughts or opinions>
