How to decline/reject workstudy?

I got a whole bunch of workstudy for my fin aid at UNC. Is there a way to reduce or reject the workstudy as I am afriad that the hours required to earn such large sum of money will interfere with my studying and social time?

In my experience last year, the way you reject work study is simply by not taking any action at all. Dont apply for a job on campus and that’s it. You dont have to notify anyone about it. On the contrary, when you want to accept workstudy you must report to the office of financial aid on campus to pick up a job assignment form, then you get interviewed, placed in a specif job, complete the payroll process, etc. Also, even if you do get a job, you can earn whatever portion of that maximum amount of money they’ve offered you, you dont have to work for all of it. General office positions on campus, for instance, usually have a minimum of 10 hours per week and a max of 15 hours. That’s not too much time really. How much money you ultimately get of what you got offered also depends on the pay level (which depends on your qualifications/experience/other), so an S1 pay level can earn between 7.25 and 8.30 while an S4 can earn as much as 13.55 an hour. So work study can be very convenient and not that time-consuming if you give it a thought.
