How to define service hours for mission trips?

I’ve been on two 10 day mission trips, and I’m not sure whether it is safe to state that the 10days x 24 hours (x2) worth of time sacrificed can legitimately be considered service hours, or just the true hours doing work while on the trip. Even if this is ok to do, will colleges view this as a dishonest boost in volunteer hours on a resume?

On the common app form, for example.

My daughter just put in the number of hours per day she was actually working. I think she counted her 6 day trip as 40 hours. I’m guessing colleges probably look at mission trips as 8 hours a day of volunteering.

I am putting down the amount of hours that I spent serving the community where I went. So I spent about 8 hours each day, multiplied by the 8 days I spent there. However, I’m not entirely sure how to define the amount of time that I spent preparing for the trip (preparing lessons).
