I am looking at 4-6 weeks at home post surgery . Other than books ,premium movie channels and TV does anyone have any great ideas ?

Are there any activities you’ve always had at the back of your mind, that you’ve said “one day I’ll do X” ? This might be the time to plan / research / do them. Learning to knit, researching bonsai, planning a vacation, etc etc.

I had to spend 6 weeks at home after surgery, and once I’d re-read the interesting books in the library, I finally took the plunge and did a little genealogy googling. I’ve been doing genealogy ever since and love it.

Start an business buy/sell on Ebay!!!

If you have Netflix online streaming you can watch seasons of old TV series that are so indulgent you never took the time to bother with, or re-watch series you loved, with zero guilt. Treat yourself to a Kindle (now under $100) and download classics for free, books from your library, or many for under $3.99.

I really am thinking about becoming an Ebay seller -how hard is it ? I was thinking this might be a fun hobby .

Write or audiotape your childhood memories, family stories, etc., as a legacy for your children.
Draw.
Cross-stitch.
Be your own DJ and create playlists.

Good luck on your surgery.

I was just home for 4 weeks post-surgery and decided to transfer all of our VHS tapes to DVD… 20 years worth!! Took almost 10 days from morning til night, but they are done and I’m glad I did it. Be sure to have tissues nearby…

A guy fried of mine did a lot of knitting!

I adore video games so i bought a new one like the day before my surgery (i had my gallbladder out). It helped distract me

CC forums?

Sort through a lifetime of photos and organize them?

I was going to say the exact same thing.

I’ll add one more: HGTV :)

My photos are organized and we transferred all movies to DVD last year . Seriously ,I am thinking of smocking some baby items for future grandchildren !

Get a book such as [Amazon.com: Banjo Primer (Book & audio CD) (Watch & Learn) (9781893907324): Geoff Hohwald: Books](http://www.amazon.com/Banjo-Primer-audio-Watch-Learn/dp/1893907325/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1329854996&sr=1-1) or [Amazon.com: Earl Scruggs and the 5-String Banjo: Revised and Enhanced Edition - Book with CD (9780634060427): Earl Scruggs: Books](http://www.amazon.com/Earl-Scruggs-5-String-Banjo-Enhanced/dp/0634060422/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1329854299&sr=8-4), get an inexpensive 5-string banjo, and learn to play The Ballad of Jed Clampett.

You could transfer your organized photos to digital (scan to computer, put on to an external hard drive to store in a safe deposit box).

Write a book?

After the surgery will you be able to use your arms to smock or is that a non-issue?

Be aware that some people react to anesthesia with vision issues, I had a huge stack of books for post-op recovery and could not read books for at least a month. At that time I had never used reading glasses, but have ever since. I had to C++++ to even read my computer.

^^^^^^^^^ this

But mine was more of inner ear/ moving/ i’ma kill your stomach type of thing.

“My photos are organized and we transferred all movies to DVD last year . Seriously ,I am thinking of smocking some baby items for future grandchildren !”

This is what I would do! I smocked for my daughter until she was about seven and refused to wear “homemade baby dresses” anymore. I was just going through the container of stuff in various stages of progress that I plan to finish for my future grandbabies. I also used to smock simple gowns for the neonatal unit and I would love to do that again, I guess I just need to make the time to do it. Best of luck to you on your surgery!

When I was laid up with a shoulder injury, I decided to work on our family tree. I bought a 1 month subscription to ancestry.com and started piecing together the little bits and pieces of info from both sides of the family. It’s a great busy work activity that can be done for as long a time period as desired.

I enjoyed doing this so much that I have taken out a one month subscription at the beginning of each year since to update and correct data, and to write down newly uncovered family stories and attach them to the tree. I ended up in contact with some of my great aunts/uncles/2nd-3rd-4th cousins through ancestry.com.

I get bored reading books one after another. The family tree search was engaging and the detective work was fun.

Scary thought -to not be able to SMOCK or WATCH TV !

IDK. have been buying thing there but have yet to do any selling. When I have extra week, I will like to do that.

Start out with small things to earn your feedbacks. You could watch how manypeople are viewing your item and what other is willing to pay for your junk. Got to be very exciting. Just make sure all then sales end at a reasonable time, otherwise you might have to stay up late to wtach the bidding.
