How to explain 'why you should be chosen/accepted' w/o sounding conceited?

I struggle when responding to the question colleges/internships ask, ‘why should we choose to accept you?’
I can list so many reasons as to why I would want to attend, but I’m not sure how I would explain/phrase what I could contribute to their programs/community. Currently, only listing personal accomplishments come to mind (which is bad). I haven’t accomplished anything extremely major, and I can mostly just think of good traits such as patient/dedicated/hard-working, but I feel that is too vague and not very convincing. How could I demonstrate that I’m worth their time without sounding bland/stuck-up?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Here’s something I suggested to my niece, and she said it helped: pretend you are answering this question in the third person. Imagine you are someone else who knows you very well and who is enthusiastically explaining to college or company X why it’s in their interest to admit/hire you.

Think of what you want to do at the college or internship and then think about how doing that contributes to the organization.

If you’re enthusiastic you won’t sound bland. If you’re passionate and genuine you won’t sound stuck up.
