How to fill out a Financial Aid form?!

Hey, I’m filling out the NYU Financial Aid Form for ED Applicants right now, and I think I need some help.

My parents are total immigrants, so they are no help at all. -_- I’ve done their taxes for them since I was like 8, haha. Anyways, this is the form:

<a href=“Undergraduate Admissions”>Undergraduate Admissions;

For all of the stuff in there, I listed 0s, except for #15: Cash, savings, and checking accounts. I’m from a low income family, my parents are divorced and I lived with my dad. Is it normal to have almost all 0s? I hope I’m not doing something wrong.

Also on #13, it saids: If no federal tax return was required in 2007, please indicate “student not required to file” “parents not required to file”

My dad filed the 1040A, but I didn’t. Do I leave it along, or do I check the “student not required to file” part?

(And I know you must think I’m crazy, low-income applying to NYU ED. But the heart wants what the heart wants. lol)

If your amounts are “0,” then they are “0” so don’t fret. As for #13, you answered your question. There are two boxes. Dad filed, so don’t check that box. If you didn’t file, check that you didn’t file. There might be another form called the “Non-Filer Form,” or something like that. It says that a counselor will get back to you on that one. Just read all the directions slowly, and take your time. It seems to be pretty self-explanatory.

Thanks, I feel better now haha
