What kind of volunteering will look good when applying for transfer admission to a four year institution?
How do I find the right kind of volunteering for me that I enjoy doing or will help me develop skills I need?
I wanna have volunteering on my list of involvements and experiences when i apply for transfer to a four year institution. Is there a website that’ll match me to the right kind of volunteering? I don’t think volunteering for a soup kitchen or homeless shelter doesn’t seem right for me.
I like science and nature.
Look up STEM programs for your major / interests, or look for non-profits dealing with conservation efforts.
There are websites that match volunteers, but I’ve personally had the greatest success by researching interesting opportunities and directly calling an organization’s office. However, if you’re not good at navigating around a phone conversation, or you simply don’t have good communication skills, emailing is also okay albeit slow.
Have you considered working at a Hospital? Many local hospitals want volunteers and you can even work as a lab aid in some (basic stuff like picking up materials and turning them into to the actual lab workers but being in that environment can help you gain lots of experience )
Ok I’m gonna join the river enhancement corporation in my community. I just found it. I may also join WVAS.
How do I find out about volunteering opportunities at hospitals or other places?
You can easily Google that. If your school has pre-med advisors, they can hook you up with opportunities.
