How to gauge public school chances of admission

I am not sure how to do this when the information is not very detailed. Let say (for a concrete example) you want to see if you have chances getting in the University of Minnesota school of management. But there is not published acceptance rate other than the university as a whole and the fact that admission to the B school is competitive. But how competitive is this? The info that the website offers is average SAT 1963 and 10% in your class. Ok, now you are an OOS student with those numbers. What’s your chances really? Is this a realistic reach?
What about U of Maryland?
Thank you!

You need to speak with the guidance counselor at your own high school, and find out what kind of records your school has about college admission.

Sometimes the information just isn’t there. I know from our school, there might be a handful that applied to U of Minn, but even fewer that applied to the School of Management - probably not enough data to make any safe judgements. In that case, I’d guess it’s a reasonable reach on the general principal OSS with match scores = reach except for those few OSS universities that actually don’t have enough in-state students.

Yes, no data in our Naviance. I wonder if my kid can email the admission officer and ask directly about acceptance rates.

There may be no data in your school’s Naviance, but the guidance counselors may know something about one or another of these universities. Or they may have pals at other schools who do. Not everything gets into Naviance.
