How to get elected SGA President

How do I get people to vote for me?

Exist. In my college, I doubt anyone would be running to oppose you!

Depends on the structure of your college and the means and motivations of the students.

At a large state university, you almost have to belong to and be a prominent member of a Fraternity and be involved in Greek life.

There was one guy who ran once saying that he wanted to tear down Greek Life facilities brick by brick and replace it with another stadium I don’t know what the hell he was thinking but his poll numbers flat lined after that like when Globodyne stock tanks in “Fun With Dick and Jane”.

You should also appeal and make promises to the athletics community, give away money to organizations as an act of good will, and make emotionally-charged pathos arguments for the issues that matter to the students, no matter how irrational they may be.

You should also privately meet with the trustees of your university, and explain to them that while you may make crazy speeches and wild promises, when you actually get elected, you promise to work with them and their agenda.

Find one particular board member of the university or politician that has a pet project in mind for the university, get politicians and celebrities to endorse you.

Get involved in SGA and campus activities, especially whatever group organizes events (is there a student activity board or something?). Those are the people who vote. Be a decent human being, network with everyone, contribute positively in class and in the dorms etc so that people who only know you casually may vote for you.

Greeks and gimmicks

At my school you want the athletes on your side, and you want people to know who you are. It’s as simple as being involved and letting people know and associate your name and face with positive things.
