How to get into a PhD program in electrical engineering?

<p>okay so I graduated with my bachelors from RPI (Rensselaer Polytech. Institute) in 2008. My GPA was okay…I got a 3.2</p>

<p>now i’m working fulltime, and i started my masters last fall (30 credits for the MS)…i’m doing 6 credits a term, at WPI (Worcester Polytech. Institute)…so far i’ve gotten two A’s and two B’s…and one of the subjects i got an A in (Digital Signal Processing), i got one of the highest scores on both the midterm and the final (they were open book, yet the average was so low bc it required thorough knowledge and understanding…so i think it says something about how well u know the material)…</p>

<p>anyways, on account of doing well in DSP…i wanna delve into it more and start my thesis in that field…so far i have a 3.5 MS GPA, and i plan on publishing at least once (will work hard on the thesis)…</p>

<p>my ultimate goal is PhD…so what should i strive for (both grade-wise and publication wise) to get into a PhD program in electrical engineering?</p>

<p>You should try to get ‘A’ in almost every class you take from here on out. I imagine if you have 2 first author papers that would look good. </p>

<p>Do you plan to stay at your current school? Maybe ask your DSP prof if you can work in his lab?</p>
