How to Get into Yale

I didn’t get into Yale. I just got into mostly UC’s (not UCLA, but SD, Cal, etc…) I might go to UCR though.
My sister did however.
She got into 2/3 ivies she applied to-
Accept- Yale, Brown
Waitlist- Cornell
Other schools:
Reject: MIT, Ca Tech,
Waitlist: Stanford,
Accept: UCR, UCSD, UCLA, UCB, JHU, Duke, Emory, Ga Tech,

She ended up going to Duke, as that was her favorite and got lot of aid, as BME major. She loved math (engineering) and bio
Now she is in UCSD medical school!
This is her stats;
GPA:
W- 4.544, UC GPA, 4.29
UW- 3.98, B in freshmen english
she take APs in her strongest subjects and studied, but crazy as she efficiently studied by not overtstudying (only self tested) and doing a lot of practice
SAT- 2340 (800 math, 750 reading, 790 writing)
she just self studied by not wasting money on BS programs and took several practice tests and reviewed mistakes. Writing and math are pure content (memorization )and practice, but reading is vocab (memorization) and critical reading was timed practices till you got better. She split her time efficiently on test to check at the end.
SAT 2: Math-80, Chem- 780, Bio- 800
AP: 5- calc bc, stat, lang, chem, bio, physics, art, spanish, psych, 4- physics C electricity, 3- physics C mechanics

Basically not perfect but near perfect stats is what yale looks for in most applicants, unless you have some amazing hook- olympics, etc…

Recs: bio H/AP teacher and art- gr8

EC’s- NMHS/math club- basic
Red Cross- president, started Bio club- president/founder, qualified for USABO semifinals (10), and finals (11) and semis (12th grade) - study a lot
she devoted her time to bio club and usabo as her true passion was bio
science olympiad (publicist) didnt devote much time but got few medals and school went to state 1 yr (school was ok tho)
Art club- treasurer, won district wide art comp- she was naturally good at art so…
volunteer- CSF, local hopsital- 500 hrs since 8th grade and became president. Started local school blood drive. 100hrs of shadowing doctor, 50 hrs shadwoing vet (she was interested)
also in one break she combined bio and spanish skills to go to venezuela field trip (got selected from region) and helped out poor kids
Basically stick to your passion and make the most of it- example- bio, she did usabo, got help from bio teacher. Also take inititiave and dont just be a membor in the club, also leadership is good.
summer:
9/10 volunteer, local med and engineering camps (to get interested)
11- City of hope- research (she got in cuz of bio stuff)
12- NIH intern
these programs are selective but she got in because of passions and STEM interests
awards-
Mostly USABO
others- AIME, district wide art comp, district community service award, bio student of the month, scioly 7 medals (1 state), and team got 5th in regionals
basic awards- honor roll, small community service awards, NMHS
ethincity stuff- indian, female, parents study in india
how she got in to colleges- UCs were very stat based and she got into others Ga Tech, emory, jhu brown, but also demonstrated interest by visitng Yale and DUke as those were 2 favs. Get to know the schools.

basically be very passionate and waste your time.
not me lol cuz i waste lot of time and did bs activites (tho i got into berkely (lucky af), ucsd, tulane)

being as close to perfect score are important, especially for most people as they dont have hooks
sister had that and devoted her time to interest related ECs and stuff which got her very far in life, and now studying to be surgeon! obviously you don’t have to go Duke (go where u like) to be successful, especially premeds.
if u guys know anyone at UCR or even Alabama tell me

^ There is no sure way to get into Yale (or its peers)! I know someone very well (don’t ask me who!) with even better stats than your sister who was denied!

who?
