How to get into Yale?

hi, i want to get into yale as a premed major…so i was wondering if there’s anything that i can start doing now to boost my chances…

i’m a junior
have 34 on act (8 on writing)
770 on math 2c
740 on chem
have taken and am taking rigorous courses…(ap biology, calculus ab, etc)
play violin (do tapes help?)
various volunteer experiences, but none that are extremely outstanding =(
3.9 gpa unweighed

thanks!

You’re on the right track.

“play violin (do tapes help?)” ---- if you show significant skill at the violin, then I would definitely send in a music supplement with a CD (about 10 to 15 minutes long). I sent in a recording of my trombone playing, and hopefully it’ll help (I’ll find out on March 31).

You should also know that there is no “pre med” major: this is a dead giveaway that you’re a novice at College searching. Good luck to you

Yes, never tell anyone that you want to major in pre-med. It is a sad mistake a few have made (pointing my right finger @ my head).

Make use of this Summer

1). Walk through the front gate.
2). Break into the dorms
3). Pose as a Yalie for six months without anyone noticing.

or get admitted. You have a decent chance with those stats.

Someone actually wrote a book on getting into Yale.

It’s literally a documentation of the stuff he did for two years, culminating with him getting into Yale. google it.

so just to reiterate what some other people said, there is no “premed major” at yale. being premed just means you take 1 year each of: general chem (or an non-organic chem class), organic chemistry, physics, biology, math, and english. You can major in whatever you want while fulfilling the premed requirements. also, some med schools require different classes, so check with any med school you are applying to. some require psychology, higher levels of math, and other things.

just keep your grades up and have fun, join activities that interest you and let your passion show in your application next year.

If you think there’s a premed major, chances are you don’t know enough about Yale to know whether it really is the right school for you. Don’t spend your days trying to get into a specific college. Find the college that’s right for you.

Um, can we convert this ■■■■■ thread into a fun thread?

(I’m surprised T26E4 didn’t say ‘your great stats indicative of intelligence coupled with with a completely moronic remark about a major with only one post in the month it’s been made is a dead giveaway you’re a ■■■■■’)

Your great stats indicative of intelligence coupled with with a completely moronic remark about a major with only one post in the month it’s been made is a dead giveaway you’re a ■■■■■

win the international biology olympiad…

^ Way to clean that ambiguity up Mal…if T26E4 isn’t gonna, someone’s gotta.

DataBox? I’ve heard about you…

^Heard about me? as in heard about my username? lol that’s odd

lol! Oh, crap. I just remembered that I listed pre-med as my major on the common app… oh well, I hope they’ll know what I mean because I listed chem underneath it. Besides, I heard it’s more or less just to get an idea of what the incoming class plans on majoring.

^ Heard about how awesome the stats connected to your username were.

^Heard about your French foreign legion extravaganza. Count me in for it!

^ Cool deal. You can be my spotter.

I expect you to familiarize yourself with the characteristics of the m82, and the ballistics of the .50 BMG round.

We’ll likely have to take the target out while they’re walking among many people - an inauguration, a philanthropy speech ,etc…We’ll probably be able to find a rooftop facing it. The max range of the weapon is about 6,800 meters…With just enough tailwind, we might be able to do it.
