How to get lots of customers for math tutoring?

Hi,
I’ve heard from some people that tutoring is an easy job that pretty much most high schoolers can do. I’m trying to recruit people who might need math tutoring but only got 1 so far. Any idea how to recruit lots of people and expand the business? I have some of my friends who are willing to do it too. So we only need customers, not tutors
Thanks in advance.

Use Craig’s list if you’re in the part of the country that Craig’s list serves.

You would do well to rethink about how “easy” tutoring is. For most students requiring tutoring (think of someone who’s struggling with geometry or pre-calculus) the need may be conceptual and/or motivational. It is rarely a need for more practice, or a recipe for solving standard problems. Usually remedial tutoring needs to be based on insight about why the student requires help, and in what way.

If you came to me (say my teenager needed help) and I sensed that you saw the tutoring as an “easy job” I wouldn’t hire you. But if you came to me with a resume showing who’ve you helped and discussed your path to success then I would think differently. So write that resume and circulate it – to parents, and possibly through your school. Think also of posting a fragment in your local newspaper.

Good luck!

You might do some volunteer peer tutoring to gain some experience at your local high school or middle school.

Does your high school have a free peer tutoring program by any chance? Competition is bad for business…

Thank you everyone,
Yep, my school has a math tutoring program for Mu Alpha Theta but usually there’s no one comes because lots of the people in my school don’t need help in math and my school is one of the top schools. I already tried craiglist but that doesn’t seem to help because so many people are doing math tutoring.
I have experience tutoring 4 people already and also won many awards from some Mu Alpha Theta competitions.
I can write a resume as well but I don’t know what to do to advertise math tutoring thing because the public schools don’t allow me to advertise the things for profit.

You might put a flyer around in your neighborhood. If parents know you are a good student, they might be willing to hire you.

I know someone who has a tutor doctor franchise who recruits HS students for tutoring. Check into those type franchises. They may have more opportunities to match you with clients.
