I just graduated from Cincinnati State Community College with a 4.0 GPA. I have an Associates of Technical Studies and I’m a member of Phi Theta Kappa. I can’t quit my day job since I have a mortgage to pay for. What are my options for completing a bachelors without breaking the bank or taking online classes?
Well, since you can’t quit your day job and don’t want online classes, your options are obviously limited to attending a state school that you can commute to.
And does your employer have any tuition beneffits?
I got my bachelor’s by transferring from my cc to a college that was within commuting distance of my job. My employer paid for half of my classes, so it was a good deal. See if you can arrange something like that.
I did the military thing for 4 years, hated it, but now I’m going for free full time, working full time, and collecting every grant plus housing allowance…probably too late for you now, but as much as I didn’t want to join it really paid off with the money afterwards…and I have a mortgage, wife, kid, etcc…
Many fully accredited colleges and universities offer online degree programs, so unless you just plain hate online classes (I’ve taken online classes and I know they aren’t for everyone), I’d suggest that you start with your own state public universities and see what is available through them.
Have you spoken with the Transfer Advisor at your CC? That person should know what options you have right in your area. Surely you aren’t the first PTK graduate of your CC who needed affordable local options.
He should contact his employer’s HR office or look online to see if they offer any tuition reimbursement plans.
Have you spoken with your transfer advisor at Cinti State? UC is an obvious option since you’re in the area. They do have night classes. The Ohio National Guard offers education benefits.
