How to get "OFFICIAL" Community Service hours

How do i get “OFFICIAL” Community Service hours.
Is there like an official form or do i just get a signiture on a peice of paper.
How do colleges even know i did community service hours?
Cant i just B.S. and say 2,000 ?

Well, of course you shouldn’t BS, because it’s definitely not worth the risk (and the lack of moral fiber it shows), but I believe it depends on where you live. In my county, we are required to fill out forms for each activity done, and must get some preapproved. This usually doesn’t take much effort, but it gets them officially recognized, and so they can then appear on our transcripts. Not sure if that’s the same for other areas, though.

You can also get a recommendation letter that shows the hours, create your own form, or ask GC for one

In the IB, I’m required to fill out a form. A very extensive form. Including an essay. So I’ve got PLENTY of proof if they need it. Haha. It is annoying to have to get them to sign so many things, but oh well. Make copies. Whenever you go for ajob or anything you have a nice list of referals!

but is their actually an “official” form? I live in los angeles and my school is not ib :frowning:

also how do theyt belive how many clubs and stuff you joined???

what they believe is up to them. just put down the truth. and i hope you don’t have so many that it might seem unbelievable, because that will certainly grant you a spot in the “not favorable” pile. not because they don’t believe you but because you’d be going for quantity and not quality

i have about 8 what is an unbelivable ammount?

oh, like 40.

out of those 8 how many are clubs you show up to once in awhile and are the occasional help but aren’t really involved?

are they ever gonna know that?

I did 2000 hours, and I had to get a signature and my gc had to called my volunteer coodinator where I volunteered for. After that is verified, the hours are added to my transcript. So, better not bs :)

I just wrote down 100 community service hours at a local food pantry, and I was never asked to verify it. Honestly im not sure if it’s 100hrs. Maybe more, maybe less. But I know it’s got to be close to that. 100hrs seemed like a fair amount.

so we need it to show up on our transcript?

GRADES/GPA with COURSES are the only things that show up on my transcript.
