I took the ACT my junior year and did not do all that well. If I retake the exam this year in February my chances at UCLA or another school of my choice escalate exponentially. My last school offered little ACT prep at all. How do you prep for ACT and SAT?

Any tips would be much appreciated and thank you in advance.

i have friends who swear by the red ACT book thats published by the ACT company. they said they read it from front to back and got very satisfying results

ALWAYS buy the books published by the testing companies (the College Board and the ACT). They’ll have the most accurate types of questions and the most free practice tests.

Buy prep books and dedicate lots of time into self-study. There are also ACT/SAT prep classes if you’d like. I would advise against aiming for the perfect score. Rather, aim for the BEST score you can achieve because there are other factors that will outshine numbers (essays, etc). Even if a 33 or 35 is the best you can achieve, they’re still both very good scores. Most admissions officers will say that your transcripts and scores are a small part of the portrait that completes you. The rest will do the talking.
