I'm interested in possibly finding a professor to shadow at a near by university. My parents work at the hospital near by and I'm also volunteering there so transportation would be taken care of. I want to learn more about International Relations and Affiairs, Political Science or Foreign Languages in general. Either field is fine with me. My only problem is that I don't know how to go about contacting or finding a professor or anyone involved in a related field at the university and ask them about job shadowing.
Any tips or ideas?

Get on the internet, do a web search, and then use a great little thing called email to ask him/her if it’s ok.

Yeah and hurry up. Professors by now have a neat little plan about how they will spend their summer, and do not like changing their plans for high school students.

I suggest that you email them showing your passion for their field, and ask if you can volunteer in their labs/research/whatever international affairs professors do. If they say no, ask if you can shadow them.

Email a lot of people, rejection rates could be high.
